Dry needling is an effective treatment for acute and chronic pain, and is often used in injury rehabilitation and prevention. Dry needling consists of inserting a filament needle into a muscle in order to stimulate a muscle trigger point. Although most patients do not feel the needle penetrating their skin, once it reaches the muscle, levels of discomfort may vary by person.
Please be advised that if the muscle is particularly sensitive, a muscle cramp and/or “twitch response” may occur.
